{the funniest things}

This coming Sunday, February 1st, will mark five months since we met little Miss Mei in China. I can hardly believe this lightening speed monkey is the same little girl who could barely hold herself up in a crawling position in China. Just a day or two after Gotcha Day, while playing with her on the bed in the hotel room, we realized that she had no idea how to crawl. We actually had to help her as she learned and got strong enough to support herself while on her hands and knees. She did know how to walk, even if it was very unsteady. We believe she learned how to walk mostly in her crib and sometimes in a walker. Well, not quite five months later, she is literally climbing on everything! Up and down the stairs...sometimes crawling and sometimes walking while holding onto the hand rail. She is up on the barstools to get on the counter. On and off our quite high king size bed. You name it, she's on it. It makes me smile, for the most part :), because I know she has a lot of making up to do. But Michael, who immediately assumed the very serious role of the over-protective big brother when she came home, is always gasping and rescueing her from her perches. The other day, as she slightly lost her balance on the barstool, she steadied herself by putting her chin on top of the counter. Michael, of course, ran to her rescue. And in his most exasperated voice said, "Mom...she was hanging by her Adam apples"! Fancy, eh?
