Happy Number Nine!

It's Michael's birthday!

To celebrate Michael's big day, we did some of his favorite things today. We ate grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and then headed out to an awesome dinosaur museum for the afternoon. Michael just can't seem to get enough of these big creatures. Sophie wasn't so sure. She was a bit nervous at first but after awhile began to enjoy looking around as much as the rest of us. By the expression in the photos of her, you can tell that she never did warm up to the water/sand table. One lady in passing said she was too much of a princess to play in the mess. Maybe so :) We missed Nathan today but know he is having fun with a close friend and his family for the weekend.

To celebrate with Michael, the one who was my baby for eight years, I have decided to share some of the many things he LOVES at nine years old...

1. Michael LOVES Michael Jordan. In fact, he refers to himself as M. J. most of the time. Even though I have asked him not to, he sometimes still writes M. J. on the name line of his school assignments.

2. Michael LOVES bagels with strawberry cream cheese, cheese pizza, Shasta, Chex cereal, toast, ravioli, grilled cheese sandwiches and whipped yogurt. A carb lover for sure!

3. Basketball. Of any kind.

4. Red and black. And more black. Probably because of the Chicago Bulls and M. J. :)

5. Dinosaurs. Especially the mean T-Rex. Jurassic Park is his favorite movie.

6. Drawing dinosaurs, sharks and making basketball play books for recess games of basketball.

7. Michael's favorite subject in school is science. He loves learning about the human body and how it works. He wants to be a doctor, paleontologist or marine biologist when he grows up.

8. He loves listening to music on his i-pod especially 80's music. I think my kids were born in the wrong era sometimes :)

9. He is a great older brother and loves not being the baby in the family anymore. He is always watching out for little Mei and keeps her out of trouble.

10. He is a straight A student and takes great pride in his cursive. His teacher tells me he has the best penmenship in the third grade!

We love you Michael!

Happy Birthday!

What a great kid! Happy Birthday to him! I especially like the first picture- it's great. And I love the look on Sophie's face at the sand/water table. "Ewww!"
