Ian and the boys left the house before the sun came up yesterday morning. They, and about 15 other scouts and leaders, arrived and quickly began assembling 16 goose/duck nesting boxes for a waterfowl preserve. The temperature was eleven degrees, but the boys claimed they were never cold. Probably due to the fact that BPD (Big Pop Daddio) had purchased new and improved gear for the big day :) Not only were they warm, but they looked good too :)

Working up a sweat...Nathan in the gray t-shirt.
Christian and Michael were happy to be along for the ride. Any occasion that requires multi-tools and pocket knives is a reason to celebrate!
With the nesting boxes built, they set off with them on sleds to place them in various locations on the preserve.
Nathan drilling into the ice to secure one of the nesting boxes.
If you look closely, you can see one of the boxes in the distance.
Taking a much needed rest on the frozen pond.
Eagle Project Completed :)
Note: While the boys were hard at work, Jessie, Sophie and I spent a twelve hour day at the first of many ballroom dance competitions. Jessie and her partner made each of the final rounds for their events, but were just a bit disappointed in their placings. Sophie was fabulous! She clapped, cheered, danced, snacked, snoozed, and cheered some more. But we knew she had had enough, when after 12 hours, she took off her shoes and socks and began eating fruit snacks from between her toes :) It was a good day for all! Oh, and yes, BPD did schlep the Nikon through the wetlands, and it survived unscathed. Thankyouverymuch!

Those nesting boxes look amazing. Uncle Scott would be proud! And I'm totally ROFL at Sophie's new place for fruit snacks!
