Mei Meets Monkeys

Don't you just LOVE those dimples? Sophie has come so far in the last month! It was only a few weeks ago that she was absolutely TERRIFIED of any animal she saw...including our overly friendly boxer, Uncle Rico. In those first few days home, just catching a glimpse of him in the backyard through a window was frightening for her. It was so bad, we had to resort to keeping the blinds closed if she was in a room where she could see him. NOW, she stands at the back door and gets incredibly excited when he comes running to her for a quick slobbery kiss on the face! "Dog" is one of the words she has learned since being home, and she can bark with the best of them...even if it does sound like an owl with a very low, sore-throat-sounding "hoot" ;) So, with the beautiful weather we are enjoying over fall break, we decided to head to the zoo. We had so much fun watching Sophie's reactions to the animals. At each exhibit, she would excitedly point to the animal and would look at me with an expression that seemed to say, "Do you see that?" I was pretty suprised how quickly she was even able to find those small, harder-to-see animals. She called all of the animals "dogs" and did a lot of barking as we strolled along :)
